So So Social Plug-In.
Powered by jQuery and YQL.

Plug-In Intro

The So So Social plug-in uses jQuery and YQL (Yahoo Query Language) to gather RSS feeds from your various social networks and sorts them into an "activity feed". It basically creates a news feed out of your social networking activity.

Think of it like the news feed on Facebook but for you and your various social networking news.

Plug-In Features

Services Supported "Out of the Box"

I felt this was a sensible set of services to include with the plug-in. If there is a service not represented like posterous or virb or youtube...the code is open...extend it.

Basically that means that this is an open-source project not intended for commercial use. If you're a developer I encourage you to take this and make it better as I know I am not the best developer on earth...far from it. If you do extend or modify the plug-in please share it back to the community. I would love that you gave the project credit if used by providing a link back to the "So So Social Activity Feed". At the very least just let me know where you're using it so I can see it in action :)

Special Thanks to Melange

So, the idea for this plug-in came from a project called Melange Life Stream Alpha by Eston Bond.

Melange is a fantastic PHP solution for displaying a social news feed like this jQuery plug in. I still use Melange on the front page of my site right now.

If it weren't for Melange I would have never written this jQuery solution. Thanks Eston.
